Last week I spent some time relaxing in Washington State, where my wife’s family lives. We hiked Rattlesnake Ledge which ends with a beautiful view. It was the perfect time and place to reflect on Burkholder Wealth Management’s beginning almost two years ago.
It has been exactly two years since my previous visit to the Seattle area. On that trip two years ago, I decided to leave my previous firm and start my own company. There had been many, many months of difficult contemplation and I needed a week away to clear my mind and make a wise decision. It was in Washington that week I decided to make the most difficult, and best, decision of my professional career and start Burkholder Wealth Management.
If I had known what was to come, would I have started a new firm in October of 2019, just months before a global pandemic rocked the globe and financial markets? Of course not! But, as the old saying goes: “If you wait for the perfect moment, you may be waiting forever.” What has happened since that week has continually left me in awe.
Since our first day we have:
More than doubled in size. The vast majority of that growth coming from new and existing clients entrusting more assets to us.
Moved into a fantastic new office in South Tulsa, specifically designed with our staff and clients in mind.
Hired four full time staff members to support our growth and ensure we maintain the highest standard of service and care.
Added service offerings to include legal work, tax planning, insurance, and real estate investment opportunities.
I could fill this page with a list of other things we have achieved from adding new technology, starting an internship program, and adding employee benefits. The last two years have flown by and it is almost unbelievable how fast.
None of what we have accomplished so far could have been done without our fantastic employees and amazing clients. I am grateful for Reagan, Gabe, and Joseph who have been here since almost day one. Without their willingness to take a chance on Burkholder Wealth Management, there is no way we could have gotten where we are today. Most of all, I am grateful for our clients. Without their support, there is no Burkholder Wealth Management. When I told my clients I was starting my own firm, I am grateful to every single one that responded: “I trust you.” And I am grateful to every new client who has joined us since then who believed in the expertise, service, and vision of our firm.
Words cannot fully express my appreciation. I am so thankful for the last 2 years and I eagerly look forward to the next 20.
Eric Burkholder
